Miles is the Research Manager at the Clean Slate Initiative (CSI). At CSI, Miles translates complex research findings into clear, persuasive narratives for policymakers, advocates, funders, and other stakeholders. That work takes shape as data-driven reports, policy briefs, memos, and publications for both internal and external audiences. He also designs and coordinates research in collaboration with the Implementation Team to inform CSI's notification efforts.

Miles holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health and International Relations from the University of Rochester, his hometown, and a Master of Public Health in Global Health from the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

His research and public health background spans academic, governmental, and nonprofit settings. At the Behavioral and Technology Lab at UNC Chapel Hill, Miles contributed to community-engaged digital health research, building equitable partnerships with marginalized populations to increase representation in health studies. As a Health Literacy Fellow at Communicate Health, he led the development of a PrEP decision-aid tool for Black men who have sex with men, applying plain language principles and behavior change theory to make complex health information accessible to the communities who need it most. At Mecklenburg County Department of Health, Miles managed a $250,000 portfolio of nine county-wide public health campaigns, led qualitative program evaluation, and built community-based organization partnerships that increased STI testing rates in high-vulnerability communities.

Outside of research, Miles lives in the South and is an active community member who believes that showing up for people is its own form of public health work. He is a spoken word artist who finds that poetry and research ask the same essential question: what is true, and who gets to say so. He recharges at festivals and through travel, and is most himself somewhere between a new city and an open mic.
