Alexandra (Alex) Williams-Moran

Alexandra (Alex) Williams-Moran is the Chief Program Officer at The Clean Slate Initiative, where she leads a team of senior leaders driving the organization's state campaigns, implementation, federal affairs, and policy work. She focuses her work on a simple belief: a past record shouldn't be a life sentence to closed doors. As chief architect of CSI's integrated programmatic strategy, she works to turn that belief into practice — expanding campaign work to put more states on the path to Clean Slate and advancing Clean Slate implementation in 14 states and counting — ultimately restoring opportunity for millions of eligible people.

Prior to this role, Alex served as CSI's inaugural Chief of Staff, where she designed and executed strategies to strengthen the organization's impact, advised CEO Sheena Meade on the organization's highest-stakes decisions, and built partnerships with leaders across the sector and the political spectrum.

She brings years of experience as a social impact strategist and advisor. As a Senior Manager at The Bridgespan Group, she worked with large-scale philanthropic platforms, advocacy organizations, and criminal justice reform efforts — unlocking $500M in cumulative philanthropic funding for national and international initiatives, including CSI's 2023 Audacious Award. During her time at Bridgespan, Alex co-led the organization's Advocacy Area of Expertise and initiated original research. Her work has been featured in Inside Philanthropy, the Chronicle of Philanthropy, and the Stanford Social Innovation Review.

Alex holds a BA with distinction from Yale University in Political Science. She serves on the Board of Directors of The Steve Fund, a national mental health nonprofit. She lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband, Cole, and spends her free time writing, traveling, playing and watching women’s soccer, catching up with family, or hosting dinner parties for friends.
