About The Clean Slate Initiative

Founded in 2019, The Clean Slate Initiative (CSI) is working across the country, and in Congress, to pass and implement laws that automate record sealing for people with eligible records who have completed their sentence and remained crime-free, and to expand who is eligible for sealing.

CSI’s vision is that people will no longer be defined by their records and will have the opportunity to contribute to their community, have a fair opportunity to work, get an education, and achieve their full potential. To date, thirteen states, and Washington D.C., have passed Clean Slate laws impacting more than 18 million people. CSI works with bipartisan leaders and organizations and offers our expertise on what works: intelligent policy design, an eye toward implementation, and campaign strategies that center lived experience. Along the way, we work to redefine the narrative around people with records, cutting through the bias and stigma, to reorient the legal system to live up to the ideals of second chances. About the Opportunity

The Clean Slate Initiative is seeking a Digital Content Manager to help expand the reach and impact of our messaging. Reporting to the Sr. Marketing & Communications Strategist, this role will lead the day-to-day execution of our digital channels, ensuring that our content is timely, persuasive, and aligned with our mission.

This is a high-impact role that requires hands-on skills across social media, email marketing, website maintenance, analytics, and content creation. The ideal candidate brings a balance of creative content instincts and a data-driven mindset to optimize performance across platforms.

  • Write, segment, and deploy email campaigns that grow and engage our audience
  • Recommend and sometimes make updates to the CSI website (built on Webflow), including posting new content, optimizing for user experience and SEO, and coordinating with external vendors as needed
  • Track, report, and analyze key performance metrics (email, social, web) and translate insights into actionable improvements
  • Collaborate across teams (e.g., MarComms, Policy, Campaigns, Research & Data) and with external partners to ensure message alignment and amplify reach
  • Support digital infrastructure, including list hygiene, automation workflows, and basic integrations between tools (e.g., web forms to email platform)
  • Monitor digital trends and recommend platform-specific best practices

Who You Are

  • A digital marketer with 5+ years of hands-on experience, ideally in nonprofit, advocacy, or mission-driven work. You’re a strong writer and editor, comfortable creating content across email, social, and web.
  • Data-informed and results-oriented, with experience tracking performance, reporting on outcomes, and using insights to improve strategy.
  • Fluent in common digital marketing tools, including Google Analytics, Mailchimp (or similar ESPs), Webflow or other CMS platforms, Meta Business Suite, social campaign tools, Asana, and Google Workspace. You’re also comfortable using generative AI tools to support content creation and workflow efficiency.
  • Collaborative across teams, thrive in a remote, cross-functional environment, and can create polished visual content using Canva, with basic experience in audio or video tools like Riverside.
  • Bonus: You have experience deploying and managing paid ad campaigns on digital platforms.

Success Metrics

  • Increased channel growth, engagement and awareness across social media platforms
  • Growth, deliverability, and engagement of CSI’s email list
  • Improved website performance through SEO and user experience
  • Clear reporting that informs strategy and resource allocation
