Webinar: Advancing Clean Slate Research — What We’re Learning & What’s Next

Over the last few years, Clean Slate policies have moved from theory to reality in states across the country. As automated record sealing becomes more common, the research agenda surrounding Clean Slate is evolving alongside it.
This webinar brings together leading scholars whose work has helped shape the field to explore emerging research questions, new data, and what’s next for Clean Slate research. Panelists JJ Prescott (University of Michigan), Colleen Chien (UC Berkeley), and Nyron Crawford (Temple University) will share insights from recent and ongoing studies examining the impacts of Clean Slate, implementation fidelity, notification and awareness, and the role of automation technology in delivering relief at scale.
Hosted and moderated by Dr. Laura Chavez, Director of Research & Data at The Clean Slate Initiative, the conversation will also reflect on how foundational petition-based research informs today’s automated systems—and where critical gaps remain for future study.
